Tamilnadu Gospel Fund (TGF) is a faith ministry, we urge individual believers and assemblies who have a burden for the evangelism of Tamilnadu, India.

A spark of the Gospel was lit in South India through the work of the missionaries right from the first century. It continued to burn as a blazing fire in the last century as in many parts of Tamilnadu. Given this long history of missionary involvement, the need of the hour is to support and expand the ministry as some hurdles are slowing down the work today. The existing evangelists are struggling to survive and there is a declension of new workers in this generation due to financial pressures. Taking the words Jesus compassionately spoke, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few” we know that there is a shortage of workers and the necessary support to continue in the harvest field.

As with a great vision and burden started in 1995, the elders and the believers of the Madurai Gospel Hall assembly began to help five evangelists with a monthly gift of Rs. 50 each. As gradually the evangelists list and contribution increased a board of committee members formed from various assemblies in Madurai and registered a Trust as Tamilnadu Gospel Fund in 2006 with the Government of Tamilnadu.

Late Br. James Cherian, took a pioneer role in expanding the TGF ministry which brought to presently of 108 evangelists are supported each month with Rs. 500/month. Also TGF implements a relief fund contributions regularly for evangelistic widows and as needed evangelist’s with urgent medical expenses. With all these financial contributions an approximate total amount of distribution comes to Rs.7,20,000 per year. We strive to recognize the financial needs of the evangelists as the cost of living is escalating each year. For the Lord’s work to progress, we need to nurture it with sufficient support. By God’s grace the work has been progressing though the need is increasing.
